Text Box: San Diego, California The 2000 reunion was held in San Diego on September 27-29.  This is a city well known to the U.S.S. Whetstone and her crew.  The activities were numerous including tours of the harbor,  the city, and a modern LSD. I really enjoyed the tour of  the Pearl Harbor - LSD-52.  She is the last of the breed.  Many things have changed in 40 years, such as our guide (1 of 10 for our group).  She was a 3rd class MM and had almost succeeded in getting all  the grease off of her hands before getting into her whites to escort us all over the ship.  LSDs are now diesel powered ships.  Gone are the BT’s.

Text Box: Hampton, Virginia The 2002 Whetstone reunion was held in Hampton, Virginia, August 22 - 24.  Because of multiple issues with the hotel, this reunion was more problematic than any other, but the crew of the Whetstone pulled together and made it a memorable event.
