Do you look forward to the return of Christ?  "Dear Friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known.  But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.  Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure."  ( 1 John 3:6)

Do you truly believe in Jesus by fully relying on Him for your salvation and your future?  " Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart.  Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son.  And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life in His Son."  ( 1 John 5:10-11)

Our reunion in Norfolk, Virginia was another special time of gathering with shipmates. A very special time of the reunion is our Memorial Service and reading the names of our departed shipmates.  This year was very special, as we had five shipmates read the names of all of the departed shipmates.  It was a reverent and emotional time in remembering the shipmates that have gone on before us.     It is a time when all of us examine our own lives and where we will spend eternity.

I am grateful that Salvation if a free gift available to each one of us. May the Lord bless each one of you with his peace.

Have you ever wondered, "Can people really know if they have eternal life?"  The Book of 1 John answers this question with a firm yes.  " I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." (1John 5:13)

Do you enjoy fellowship with other believers?   "If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth." (1 John 1:7)

Do you have a love for God's Word and seek to obey it?  "We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands.  The man who says, 'I know Him,' but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him.  This is how we know we are in Him." ( 1 John 2:3-5)

Do you reject the values you see in the world system?  "Do not love the world or anything in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world.  The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever." (1 John 2:15-17)

Interview a Veteran

The Library of Congress is looking for volunteers to help record the memories of the 19 million living U.S. veterans. Can you help?

To get more information about the Veterans History project, call the AARP at (800) 424-3410, or log on to the library's Web site, www.loc.gov/folk life/vets.

You'll get a free project kit containing helpful tips, resources and forms for recording and registering an oral history. And your recording will be permanently housed in the nation's archives.
