Greetings from
Your President

Ahoy Shipmates! The year 2001 is rolling right along and it is less than 1 year until the next Reunion. We are really excited about it. We were at the hotel the first of week of July to start the ball rolling with tours, meals, etc. I really think you will love it. The hotel was built in 1928 and is on the National Register. All rooms have a waterview and sitting on the veranda watching ships moving in and out of Chesapeake Bay is a real pleasure.

The last few months since the last newsletter have been quite gratifying. I have contacted close to 60 men and only wish it was that way all the time. Many have e-mailed, written or called complimenting the Association's newsletter and website. Not only those that belong to the USS Whetstone Association but those from other organizations as well. We thank John Worman (newsletter) and David Vydra (website) for their time and dedication. Many hours are spent by both for our benefit.

I truly hope all of you will be able to put the reunion on your calendar as we would like to completely fill all 185 rooms at the hotel. I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones and believe it is a very gratifying experience for each of us that attends.
SEE YOU AUGUST 22-24, 2002.
