Voluntary Dues

USS WHETSTONE WEBSITE
usswhetstone.net

Again, thank you to all shipmates that have sent dues and donations to the Association. Without your support, it would be impossible to publish "The Rolling Stone", maintain the Website, find lost shipmates and have our reunions. Dues are $20.00 a year, are tax deductible, and are strictly voluntary. All dues are applied to the year they are received unless designated otherwise. We recognize that not all are able to support the Association, but we welcome support from whomever is able. Dues received to date for 2002 are listed below. An asterisk designates dues paid for additional year(s). If anyone has paid and your name is not listed, please accept our apology and contact Kay Goble at 6200 Emerald Pines Cir, Ft. Myers, FL 33912, (239) 768-1449, e-mail: mgoble@mindspring.com. Please use this list as your receipt.

Does anyone recognize this man! This is our Webmaster, David Vydra (RD-2, 1958-61). David spends many hours working on the Website to continually improve and add to it. Presently, he is in the process of adding ship's books and hopefully will have all books on the Website one day. All hours spent by David are volunteer and  the Association is very grateful for  the many hours he spends making our Website one of the favorites for Associations. The latest report revealed there were over 70,000 hits in March and as of 4/18/02 another 20,000 hits in April. We believe the Website is a credit to our Association. Unfortunately, money is needed to continue the work and we ask that shipmates consider a one-time voluntary gift to the Website. Contributors are acknowledged on the "Crew Members" page. Three different  categories are set up for contributions:

  Site Sponsor $50.00 contribution
  Site Supporter $25.00 contribution
Site Patron $20.00 or less contribution

All contributions will be tax deductible and should be made out to U.S. S. Whetstone Association. Please complete the form at the bottom of this page and mail to:  Kay Goble, 6200 Emerald Pines Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33912. Indicate the purpose in the Memo space. Should contributions exceed costs, the excess will remain deposited with the Association for the next reunion. As an official Association publication, we have to maintain a site free of advertisements. We thank all  that have supported the WebsSite to this point and thank all in advance for your consideration.

LIFE'S LESSONS

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles three things:  a rainy day, lost luggage and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a life.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.
