What a beautiful gift! What a reason to rejoice! Have you made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ? If not, He is knocking on the door of your heart. Ask Him to come into your heart and forgive you of your sins and He will. Colossians 2:13-14:  When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross. As a Christian, we have a new nature. God has crucified the old rebellious nature and replaced it with a new loving nature. God has declared us not guilty, and we need no longer live under sin's power.

If you are aware of a shipmate or family member that is ill, I would really appreciate hearing from you. I have received names of a few shipmates and have been able to call them and encourage them over the phone. It is such a blessing to be able to talk with them and pray with them. I enjoy sending cards to encourage them. I have met some wonderful men and women this way in our Association. Please send me an e-mail and let me know of anyone that is ill or needs encouragement.

May God bless you and watch over you!

In The Gift for All People, Max Lucado describes the event of the cross in this way:  "Christ came to earth for one reason:  to give His life as a ransom for you, me, for all of us. He sacrificed himself to give us a second chance. He would have gone to any lengths to do so. And He did. He went to the cross, where man's utter despair collided with God's unbending grace. And in that moment when God's great gift was complete, the compassionate Christ showed the world the cost of His gift."

As you strengthen your relationship with Jesus, you will begin to understand the amazing trust that He died specifically for you. Though His sacrifice freed the world from the penalty of sin, Jesus was intimately familiar with you as an individual as He accepted and fulfilled His sentence of death upon the cross. The Bible tells us that God knew you before you were formed in your mother's womb. Psalm 139:13:  For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. God sent His son to die on the cross 2,000 years ago, God knew you and included the sins you would commit in the future among those to be forgiven.
