This past autumn I shared a personal message from Kenneth Brown IC-2 (1955-1959) in my Chaplains corner in the newsletter.  He shared with you his battle with Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma (Brain Cancer).  More important he shared his faith and trust in Jesus with you.  He had a personal relationship with Jesus and knew he would spend eternity with his Lord.    I would like to share with you the following from his wife Patty.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for Ken Brown.  Ken passed away on February 16th, at home.  He was survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Brown, 3 daughters, Jill and Joe Brown, Ginger and Roger Wieringa, Jenifer and Eric Klein; his grandchildren Andrew Wieringa, Emily, David, Julie and April Brown, Sarah, Lauren and Rachel Klein.  A beautiful memorial was held on February 28th, at the United Methodist Church in White Cloud, Michigan.  The love for his family and his faith in God gave Ken strength.  He wanted you all to know how much his Whetstone family meant to him.  He so wanted to go to the reunion.  I'm sure he will be there in sprit.  The last thing he said to his brothers was "stay close to the Lord".  Ken lived his life knowing he was loved.  God Bless You All and stay close to the Lord.   Patty Brown.

Thank you for sharing with all of us Patty.

Text Box: I was glad to hear from Pete McManus today, he is one of my fellow shipmates.  He was calling and excited about the upcoming reunion in Seattle.  This will be his first reunion as he wasn't aware of our Association until after the last reunion in Norfolk.  He was making reservations at the hotel today and wanted to know if I had made my reservations.  We are so blessed to be able to meet every two years at our reunion and renew acquaintances and make new ones.  I thank God for our Whetstone family.  (Yes, I did make my
