Dear Whetstone family:

I have asked my lovely wife Jane to share with you this time.  I am thankful for her and appreciate her sharing with all of you.

  Chaplain Marv Watson

Marv and I had a wonderful time at our ships reunion in San Diego.  We talked at length about our time in the Navy.  We visited the home we had lived in, the church where we were married and many places where we began our married life.  Those were the days when we had few material possessions.  The last week before pay day was very challenging.  We lived on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches quite often.  Our most valued possession at that time was our collection of jelly glasses…! (Except for the broom Marv bought me for Christmas; what a romantic guy).

Having grown older, I have learned to appreciate those times.  We have been through several trials and tribulations since then but have become stronger from them.  I believe God allows us to go through these things so that we will draw closer to Him.  During one of those trials is when I found my salvation in Jesus Christ.  My life has never been the same.  Marv & I have learned to trust Him and believe Him no matter what comes along.  He will never leave us nor forsake us.  We are so thankful He has forgiven us and He loves us with an everlasting and unfailing love.  Whatever you are going through, go to HIM.  He will be there to comfort you.

Marv and I look forward to the next reunion in Virginia and hope to meet more new friends.

May God richly bless you!

           Jane Watson
